More About The Team

The Baton Rouge High Solar Car Team is in need of your help. This year we are continuing to work towards our goal of building and racing a solar car in the Hunt-Winston Solar Car Challenge July of 2010. This race occurs every summer in various places with participation from competing high schools across the nation. The Hunt-Winston Solar Challenge was named "One of the Top 10 Most Innovative Education Programs in America" by Technology & Learning Magazine.

Our program encompasses the full range of activity- the earliest stages of research and development to the production and racing of the solar car. This coming summer, we will be racing our car on the open road from Round Rock, Texas, to Golden, Colorado. The hard-working students of Baton Rouge High's team have been enthusiastically working on the solar car to make it better, safer, and more efficient through testing and problem solving for the past 3-4 years. We are in need of your sponsorship to fulfill our goals of accomplishing the final phases of making the car operational to compete in the Solar Car Challenge.

The team competed in the summer of 2009 at the Texas Motor Speedway with success. Even though we ran into many mechanical issues, we never gave up and because of our perseverance; we were awarded the "Guntis Teradus" award. In addition, Joey Leblanc, the team captain, received the coveted "Order of the Solar Cell."

Sponsors Are Still Needed

Though this is a highly rigorous project, the rewards the team members and sponsors receive are countless. The benefits your company will receive include advertisement on our team t-shirt, website, the solar car, and/or its trailer. Due to the large amount of present media attention and PR our team and this event is receiving, your sponsorship will be prominently displayed to the community. Thank you for your time and interest.
